Maryland Winter Engagement Shoot: Patrick & Britni

Cutest couple ever?  Well no, that award of course goes to Brent and I, but Patrick and Britni are a close second 😉  My cousin Patrick moved to Maryland about four years ago from his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri to serve as the middle school director at Mountain View Community Church where Brent and I attend.  We loved having Patrick living so close to us, but the whole family just kept waiting for him to finally get a girl!

Patrick held out for the right one and we’re all glad he did.  Britni is so much fun, and I’m so excited that she will be marrying into the family!  Everyone remarks how much Britni reminds them of me (which makes her doubly cool, of course).  Patrick and Britni have been in a long distance relationship from the start, but we really wanted to do a Maryland winter engagement shoot when Britni was in town since they started dating last winter.  The day finally arrived only to be a dreary, overcast, and cold day.  By ‘cold’ I don’t mean ‘it’s a little nippy out’ cold; no, it was full on ‘I think my pinky just fell off from frostbite’ cold.  Did I mention I hate the cold?

Needless to say our typical two hour shoot morphed into a 30 minute battle of wills as we photographed as quickly as possible so that poor Patrick wouldn’t die (Britni actually seemed fine!).  Despite the cold we did have fun and captured some adorable images!

Our sincere congratulations to Patrick and Britni.  Welcome to the family girl 🙂

Brent and I have had a lot of fun lately playing around with off-camera lighting for different effects.  This is just one flash with an orange filter over it and voila! Beautiful winter sunset 🙂
