Welcome friends! I’m Mary Sarah and yes, I do go by both names. I am a wedding, high school senior, and maternity photographer in the Frederick, MD area but photograph anywhere in the DMV and beyond. I'm bilingual, have seen every episode of "This is Us" and "Parks & Rec" and am always down for a good adventure! I am also a hopeless romantic and tear up every time Mr. Darcy says, “You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you.” I was blessed to grow up as a pastor’s child (and as the oldest of seven!) and have my wonderful parents to thank for my relationship with Christ. I was also blessed with a fairy tale soulmate named Brent, who swept me off my feet in high school and married me 7 years later. We have three children, Savannah (6) Carson (4) and Landon (1).
If we’re honest, I think we’ve all had a dream that seemed so impossible, so illogical that you felt foolish admitting it out loud. For me, that dream was becoming a wedding photographer. I was 22, had just graduated from Salisbury University with a teaching degree, and I was filling substitute posts trying to land a teaching position. In the midst of that, I had just married Brent and had an incredible experience with my wedding photographer. After my wedding I remember thinking, “how fun would it be to photograph weddings for a living??” The plan was to sell my wedding dress to fund a camera, but when I burst into tears after trying it on ‘one last time,’ Brent quickly agreed that I should keep my dress AND buy a camera (told ya he’s a keeper!). One year later, we had saved up enough money to purchase my first Nikon. I devoured one online photography class after the next, and practiced non-stop on anyone who was willing. As I started to learn more I remember telling Brent, “Maybe one day… you know…. three or four years down the road, I’ll photograph a wedding.” I felt nervous even voicing my desire because it seemed so unattainable, but less than a year and a half after purchasing my first camera I was photographing my first wedding! Now, six years later, I am a full time wedding and high school senior photographer and Brent is my second shooter. I can’t believe how blessed I am to be doing what I love alongside the love of my life. It has definitely been a crazy, challenging journey, but I’m so thankful that I didn’t let my fears prevent me from stepping out in faith and pursuing my dream!
I believe in true, no strings attached, unconditional love. I believe in the kind of love that can take your breath away, turn your world upside down, and leave you forever changed. I believe true love is steady and stands the test of time, that love requires taking risks, is worth sacrificing for and fighting for. I believe that love is not a feeling, that love does not equate to happiness, but that to love and be loved is what we all inherently long for. I believe that we love because He first loved us.
I believe we are called to give back, fight for social justice, and not turn a blind eye to the suffering in this world. It’s one of the many reasons I choose to donate 5% of the proceeds from every wedding to fight slavery, poverty, and hunger.

I believe that as a photographer I am also a storyteller by capturing real and timeless moments. Moments like the tear in a father’s eye as he gives his daughter away and the look of awe on a new mom’s face as she gazes at her little one. I believe photographs serve as time capsules by freezing brief moments that we can always look back on and cherish. I believe that posed images are important but that it is the spontaneous candids that really capture who we are. I believe you can never have too many pictures of you and your loved ones.

I believe in following your passions and not letting others put up boundaries for you. Just because someone else “can’t” do something doesn’t mean that you are bound by their limitations. So often we spend our lives saying “tomorrow” when we should seize the moment today! Carpe diem!

I believe that we are here for a purpose,
that every person has value,
that we are created in God's image,
that we are enough,
and that we should love ourselves more.

I believe that you can never laugh too much and that
often we do not laugh enough.
I believe the greatest ab workout is a
laugh-until-you-cry-and-almost-pee-your-pants
belly laugh.

I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God,
that He died on the cross for my sins so that I could spend eternal life with Him, that He loves me unconditionally with a love that is deeper and truer than I could ever comprehend, and that He alone is my true knight in shining armor.
