Jonathan & Julia’s Links of Gettysburg Wedding, Frederick MD
Jonathan and Julia’s story is a sweet one! They met at church as young children and at ten years of age decided that they liked each other. Sadly, their dreams were shattered when Julia’s parents got wind of the heart-shaped locket that Jonathan bought her for her 13th birthday. As the years passed, Julia and Jonathan drifted apart until Julia’s brother invited Jonathan to Julia’s college graduation trip at Lake Anna. Jonathan stayed an extra day when Julia’s friends went home and they spent the time talking and catching up. A mere three weeks later, Jonathan asked Julia out (at his brother’s wedding no less!) and the rest is history. I love how both of them acknowledge how thankful they are that their relationship came together in God’s own timing. As Jonathan puts it, “The moral of this story is this: We, as flawed human beings have our timing, and God, as the all-knowing Father, has His perfect timing.”
Jonathan and Julia chose to celebrate their special day at the beautiful Links of Gettysburg. According to Julia’s youngest bridesmaid, “Julia loves bling,” and bling there was! Being partial to all things that sparkle as well, I found myself in love with all of the little details and décor of their gorgeous day (especially her killer shoes!)
While I was hanging out with the bridesmaids, Brent was having a blast with Jonathan and the groomsmen who were a fun and crazy bunch to say the least! As with almost every wedding we photograph, Brent found Jonathan and the groomsmen having a bit of difficulty figuring out the boutonnieres…
Their ring bearer was such a cutie!
During the time of Christ, washing one’s feet was delegated to the servants or slaves of the house as it was a filthy chore. However, Jesus chose to humble himself and wash his disciples’ feet to serve as a physical reminder of Christ’s call to Christians to serve one another. To show their commitment to serve and honor each other, Jonathan and Julia chose to do their own foot-washing ceremony. This was the first time I’ve witnessed this ceremony and it was beautiful seeing the love in Jonathan and Julia’s eyes as they humbled themselves and served each other in such a symbolic way.
After the ceremony we explored via golf carts the beautiful grounds of The Links and got some gorgeous pictures!
Ory Flowers did an incredible job with the floral arrangements! I was absolutely in love with all of the details that the Links at Gettysburg arranged.
Jonathan and Julia had some of most fun and touching special dances I’ve witnessed to date 🙂
After the dances it was time for some cake smashing with their gorgeous cake coming from Karen Rodkey Cakes.
As the night progressed I loved the gorgeous lighting in their venue!
You can’t have a wedding without some crazy dancing, and Jason Klock of Klock Entertainment did a fantastic job at getting everyone out on the dance floor!
Every wedding I love to try and get a few night shots. Unfortunately, the crazy thunderstorm had other plans in mind. With our time cut down to just a couple of minutes we still managed to grab a few quick shots and and even do a sparkler exit just in time!
I couldn’t decide which lifting pose I liked more so I thought I’d post both!
Thank you Jonathan and Julia for letting us be a part of your beautiful day! We wish you all the best in your future marriage!
