A Rocky Mountain National Park Anniversary Shoot

A few months ago, Brent, Savannah and I met up with Brent’s brother James, his wife, Beka, and their daughter Ava and we all embarked on a Colorado adventure!  This was Brent’s first time to Colorado and while I had visited with my family when I was 7 years old, my only memories were of feeding chipmunks so it was a new experience for both of us.  I will blog about the whole trip in another post for anyone who is interested in visiting, but today I want to showcase James and Beka’s gorgeous Rocky Mountain anniversary shoot. As soon as I found out we were traveling together I practically begged James and Beka to let me do an anniversary shoot for them and they thankfully obliged. The first set of images are actually from Red Rock Canyon Open Space in Colorado Springs. We had no intention of doing a photoshoot there, but when I saw how beautiful the scenery and lighting were I talked them into posing for a couple images.

We spent the first part of our trip in Colorado Springs and then drove up to Rocky Mountain National Park. We couldn’t get over the incredible views in every direction! While we traveled towards the end of October we were also blessed with some pretty gorgeous weather.  For James and Beka’s official Rocky Mountain anniversary shoot we started along the Trail Ridge Road and literally took these along the side of the road.

We then headed to a stunning location we had spied earlier in the week on our way to some hiking trails. The lighting was perfect and I would have loved to go further into the valley but we were stopped by a number of elk!

James showing off his impressive modeling skills hahaha I wish I had “behind the scenes” footage of my dear husband holding two wiggling, crying babies and my flash so that we could get these pictures!

Now I leave you with a couple pictures of our beautiful families and babies because I can. Enjoy and stay tuned for a whole trip report coming next week!

Photo cred: James Rader who claims that photography is super easy. Never mind that I did all the settings for him…
