I love this hat with Emma’s outfit! I’m so happy that hats are coming back in style 🙂

I couldn’t get over how perfect the lighting was here, and it continued to just get better! I also loved how “Narnian” this lamppost felt. Not pictured: the 5,000 biting gnats that were destroying my legs while somehow Emma & Ian remained unscathed. The things I do for good light haha.

I think these next images are my favorite series of the evening, even with no monuments or buildings in the background. I just love the golden light and their natural laughs.

After leaving the treasury, I glanced at the sky and urged Emma and Ian to literally RUN! to the Capitol because God had blessed us with the most beautiful sunset sky! There is nothing photo-shopped about that sky (although I did remove a few people from the background.)

From the Capitol, we planned to drive straight to the Lincoln Memorial because we were quickly losing daylight for our DC engagement photos. However, as we drove past the War Memorial Emma yelled, “Stop the car!” The sunset was so beautiful with the War Memorial lit from within that we once again ran out of the car, (which was literally in the middle of the road with it’s flashers on) and I had Ian quickly lift up Emma for one of my favorite shots of the night. Then we sprinted back to the car and raced to the Lincoln!

We finished our shoot with a couple last romantic shots in front of the reflecting pool. Congratulations Ian & Emma! I can’t wait to photograph your wedding, and thanks again Lynn & Dan for being our chauffeurs (and Lynn for holding my flashes!)
