Maternity Photographer Frederick MD | Frederick Photographer
Have I mentioned just how much I adore maternity shoots? They’re quickly becoming my absolute favorite type of photography, especially as my mamas try out more and more of my new gowns from my client closet. I also love when I get to document repeat clients and be a part of memorializing all their precious life moments. Two years ago, I had the opportunity to photograph Heather and Michael’s little family for William’s lifestyle newborn session. William was adorable then, but may be even cuter now as he strutted around in his little jacket while I photographed his beautiful mama carrying his soon-to-be sister. Heather positively glowed and I was so excited when all three maternity gowns she picked from my closet happened to be ones I hadn’t photographed yet! I was even more excited when the day of the maternity shoot arrived and it ended up being 68 degrees and partially sunny in mid January!
For her first gown, Heather chose the Monroe Gown in hunter green. She said it was a little more bold than she usually goes, but I thought the color looked beautiful against her skin tone and blonde hair. I love the Monroe gown because the train is so elegant and has a lot of versatility.
William’s little smile just warms my heart.
Heather happens to be an incredibly talented makeup artist and the owner of Heather Rea Style Studio. I absolutely love working alongside her at weddings, and naturally her makeup was flawless for her Frederick maternity shoot.
I purchased this fur shawl for Heather when I assumed we’d be photographing in the freezing cold. Thankfully, Heather didn’t technically need it but I absolutely loved how it worked with the gown so we included it for a few pictures anyways.
For her second gown, Heather chose my Francis Gown in champagne from Sew Trendy Accessories. This may be my favorite gown from the shoot and one of my favorites in my client closet. I love how flattering it is on her and how beautiful the color looked against all of the earth tones. A lot of people think winter is an ugly season for photography but I still find so much beauty in it.
In general, William was much more interested in exploring than participating in the maternity shoot, but he did get really excited to kiss mama’s belly and his baby sister :)
Who else thinks Heather needs to pursue a modeling career?? This mama is gorgeous! I can’t believe she’s 35 weeks pregnant here.
By the time we got back to the car it was getting pretty dark, so Heather quickly pulled on my Celine gown from Sew Trendy Accessories (which was a feat in and of itself) and we managed to grab a couple last maternity pictures before we lost all daylight. Mother Nature had one more surprise up her sleeve, blessing us with a gorgeous sunset that perfectly complemented Heather’s plum gown. I always encourage my moms to wear at least one of my more “glam” gowns for their shoot because honestly, when else do you get to really dress up and look this incredible?? Heather looked stunning and it was a perfect end to a beautiful maternity shoot.
