Catoctin Hall at Musket Ridge Wedding Pictures
When Brittany applied for a job at Sabor de Cuba, she never thought that it would lead to her meeting her soulmate. Mike’s brother, Nick, is the owner of Sabor de Cuba and Mike worked for him as a server. Brittany was hired as a hostess and after working together, the two realized there was something more between them than just friendship. Mike happens to be a few years older than Brittany, so when her dad initially heard about Mike he was a little concerned that his baby girl was dating an older man. His worries were soon set aside when he learned about the kind of man Mike is. When Mike was in high school, his dad tragically suffered a stroke. Mike had scholarship offers to multiple universities and the whole world before him, but he turned them down to stay home and care for his dad for eight years until he passed away. Brittany’s father realized that Mike is exactly the type of man he would want caring for his little girl. Brittany is one blessed woman, for she has chosen herself a man of strength, selflessness, compassion and immense character.
Mike and Brittany’s wedding was our final one of the year, and one of our most memorable. Not only do they have a sweet story, but every aspect of their wedding was beautiful. Their ceremony was held at the gorgeous Saint Katherine Drexel Catholic Church; the white walls, marble floors, and stunning architecture made for one happy wedding photographer! While rain was predicted all day, it held off until we were literally walking inside after finishing up portraits! Their Catoctin Hall at Musket Ridge wedding was gorgeous, and the colors that Brittany picked for her bouquets worked perfectly against the navy dresses and remaining fall leaves. Brittany incorporated her Korean heritage into the wedding by donning a custom made, Korean dress for her father daughter dance. Finally, the rain continued into the evening allowing for a few stunning wedding night rain shots! All in all, it was a sweet day filled with laughter, a lot of tears, and even more love.
The Catoctin Hall at Musket Ridge was beautifully decorated by the talented Ory Florals.
For her father-daughter dance, Brittany changed into a traditional Korean dress. I loved that the navy still matched her wedding colors and it was so cute on her! When Nick gave his toast as best man, I’m not sure anyone was prepared for what was to come. He started out with the typical jokes that had everyone laughing, but transitioned into the story of their father and how Mike had helped nurse him for eight years. As I listened to Nick tell their story, I saw the pain in his mother’s face but I also saw how proud she is of Mike. By the end of the toast, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the entire ballroom. I was so honored to be a part of the moment, and to be able to document it for their family. I felt even more special to be let into a small part of Mike and Brittany’s life.
I love when my bride and groom trusts me and are willing to be a little adventurous to get a one of a kind shot. There were no umbrellas to be found (other than my very small, pink one which we discovered upon opening was broken!) but Brittany and Mike willingly braved the rain anyways to get a few wedding night rain shots. I’m in love with these last two images of the night!
