Heather & Kyle’s Wedding at Glen Ellen Farm 

I love when my couples try to really make their family a part of their wedding day. For their beautiful wedding at Glen Ellen Farm, Heather and Kyle did just that. The only difference is that in this case, their family is their puppies! Heather and Kyle are huge dog people and knew they wanted their dogs, Cody, Ryleigh, and Sterling, to play a special part of their wedding day. Ryleigh and Sterling served as groomsmen (I love the matching doggy suit they found!) and their cake topper was a silhouette of a bride and groom with two dogs.  Doggy treats were provided courtesy of the three dogs, and a photograph of Cody – who tragically passed away a few weeks prior to the wedding – was used for each of the table numbers. When I ask my groomsmen to “get close” and they take it a little too far…

I love these vintage key place cards which served as a bottle opener! Such a great idea!  Instead of a traditional guestbook, Kyle built a bench for their home, had their last name engraved on the seat, and then asked guests to sign it! Kyle’s grandparents recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary! In lieu of a father daughter and mother son dance, Kyle’s father gave a speech in honor of his parents and then they had their own special moment on the dance floor. So sweet!

Whenever possible, I encourage my brides to schedule 10 minutes into their evening to capture a few sunset and/or night shots. It gives my couples a few minutes to relax from the chaos of the reception and allows us more time to capture beautiful, intimate images.

This was our first time working with Mixing Maryland and he did a great job getting everyone out onto the dance floor!
