Chris & Ashley’s Springfield Manor Wedding

Every now and then, you encounter a “once-in-a-lifetime moment.” They’re the moments that take your breath away, that make you literally pinch yourself, and leave you wondering, “Is this really happening??” One of those moments occurred during Chris and Ashley’s Springfield Manor Wedding day.

Their wedding-day forecast called for ‘strong thunderstorms, gusty winds, and small hail’ which left everyone disappointed to say the least.  We know we will always get great images at Springfield Manor regardless of weather, but an outdoor Springfield Manor wedding ceremony in spring is absolutely stunning.  We packed and prepared for the worst, but were caught completely off guard when the clouds parted and the sun came out just in time for the ceremony!  The weather was absolutely beautiful with bright blue skies and sun rays peaking over the mountains. Well, I should say it was beautiful for the first half of the ceremony. Suddenly, the skies quickly darkened. Threatening rain clouds appeared in the horizon but Ashley’s dad, who happened to be the officiant, was completely oblivious as his back was turned to the approaching storm.  Finally, Ashley stopped him in the middle of the ceremony, pointed to the clouds, and her dad quickly finished the ceremony, not a moment too soon! The bridal party literally got inside just as the skies let loose while their poor guests (and photographers!) rushed inside for cover! Thankfully, the story doesn’t end here. The rain only lasted a few minutes, and soon became light enough that we were able to do family pictures on the front porch. As everyone lined up, we noticed the start of a rainbow beginning to grow over the fields across the road from Springfield Manor. We kept taking family portraits with our eyes on the sky and soon it had developed into a gorgeous double rainbow! We quickly grabbed Chris and Ashley, put them in position, and captured some of my favorite wedding images of all time! Perhaps most special was that the rainbow was literally right over Ashley’s family farm. I’m so thankful to have been able to capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment for Chris and Ashley’s once-in-a-lifetime day!

While I was photographing Ashley and her bridesmaids at Springfield Manor, Brent went to Ashley’s family farm right across the street to photograph Chris with his handsome groomsmen.

Springfield Manor’s reception hall was beautiful! I loved the pink hydrangea centerpieces and the beautiful spring color palette that Ashley picked out.
