James & Stephanie’s Washington D.C. Wedding Photography
After photographing James and Stephanie’s engagement shoot, I knew their wedding was going to be awesome. Not only were they willing to take an extra two hours out of their wedding day to do photographs around Washington D.C. (a photographer’s dream!), but they are also just an incredibly warm and welcoming couple, and look beautiful in front of the camera. J Their bridal party was also the craziest, funniest, and most creative bunch we have had the opportunity to photograph. As photographers, we do our best to get to know our bride and groom beforehand so that they can feel comfortable around us on their wedding day. At the same time, we try to remain as unobtrusive as possible to respect their time with their friends and family. At James and Stephanie’s wedding, however, their bridal party quickly made us feel a part of their family. Brent and I both agreed that it was the most fun we had ever had photographing a wedding, and it is largely due to the awesome people that we got to hang out with that day. So cheers to Stephanie and James and their crazy, wonderful friends!
When I joined Stephanie in her suite at the beautiful Westin Alexandria, I found her the epitome of calm and collected. I contend that this was largely because her, as well as her bridesmaids (and perhaps myself included), were listening and singing to Frozen songs at the top of their lungs. Also, check out her gorgeous hair by Sherry Williams and make-up by Caroline Giron!
Love these flowers by Jackie Ripke of Kanarip Designs!
I felt like I was back in the Victorian Era as Stephanie held tightly to the mirror while her bridesmaids laced her up!
I’m in love with this shot of Stephanie and her mom 🙂
While I hung out with the ladies, Brent had the privilege of photographing James and his groomsmen. James and Stephanie both chose to exchange gifts, and I love this image of James reading the journal that Stephanie got him.
Suffice it to say that Brent’s experience involved a whole lot less Frozen, and a lot more alcohol.
Sometimes when I leave Brent alone with the boys crazy things happen…
James’s nephew and ring bearer was the coolest kid ever!
Stephanie and James got married in the gorgeous Saint Joseph’s Church in Alexandria.
After the ceremony, we hopped on the party bus to explore D.C.!
We started our Washington D.C. wedding photography at the Jefferson Memorial.
I told you they were a little crazy…
At the rehearsal dinner, the bridal party got henna tattoos during a Bengali Mendhi ceremony to celebrate Stephanie’s heritage.
After doing Jefferson Memorial wedding pictures, we quickly hopped back on the bus to get some wedding pictures around the Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool.
The Westin was absolutely gorgeous! Being a huge Disney fan, I also loved their Cinderella theme 🙂
I am in love with this cake by The Happy Tart!
At the end of the night, we were absolutely thrilled when we had the opportunity to go up on the roof of the Westin!
Congratulations again Stephanie and James, and thank you for making Brent and I feel so welcome on your wedding day! We had so much fun spending time with you two, and we wish you the most wonderful of marriages!
