Jason & Sarah’s Wedding Catonsville, MD

Sarah and Jason couldn’t have asked for a prettier day as they joined hands in marriage one early Friday afternoon in September.  Their wedding was the perfect afternoon wedding; relaxed and fun, while filled with friends, family, and lots of laughter. I love elegant, evening weddings but sometimes it’s nice to step back from all of that grandeur and simply focus on the celebration of two becoming one.  As a Christian, it is also so refreshing when a couple and their friends make certain to incorporate Christ into their wedding day.  Throughout the ceremony, prayer, and toasts it was evident that Sarah and Jason are bound by something even more powerful than love; its Creator.

Early Friday morning I met Sarah and her lovely ladies getting ready in what can only be described as the most epic of “man basements” located in one of her bridesmaid’s houses.  Despite the early hour, and even with Iron Man looking on, Sarah was calm and collected as her talented bridesmaids did her hair and make-up.

From there we headed to the stunning Overhills Mansion in Catonsville, MD.

Sarah actually made her wedding flowers using paper flowers.  I absolutely loved them!  They were so realistic, had an awesome texture, and an overall really vintage texture to feel that I adored!

Sarah and Jason both wrote letters to each other that they exchanged before the ceremony.  I love Sarah’s expression here as she reads Jason’s sweet letter.

Jason happens to be a huge Lord of the Rings fan (as any normal person should be) and so one of his requests was that Sarah look like an elvish princess.  I think she beautifully accomplished that look with this stunning hairpiece from good ol’ Etsy!

While Sarah and her bridesmaids were getting ready I headed upstairs to check on the men.  They were calm, cool, and collected as always, and perhaps just a little goofy.

Nothin like an awesome photo bomb.

After multiple failed attempts at pinning on the boutonniere, all of the groomsmen felt the need to get involved…

What a stud.

I love when my couples choose to have their bridesmaids and groomsmen pray over them before the start of their ceremony.

I love even more when the bride and groom meet to pray together before their ceremony.  Even if it invariably results in me tearing up every time…

Instead of a candle or sand ceremony, Jason and Sarah decided to do a chord braiding ceremony which represents the two becoming one with Christ in the center of their relationship.

Since they got married on an early Friday afternoon Jason and Sarah opted for an ice cream social over hors d’eourves.  The result: pure awesomeness.

In lieu of a guestbook, Jason and Sarah asked their guests to write a special message on a jenga piece.

Another fun touch  that they chose to share their favorite trifle rather than go for a traditional cake.  For dessert their friends contributed tons of delicious baked goodies.

I just love father-daughter and mother-son dances.

To get the dancing started Sarah and Jason’s DJ, who happens to be a good friend of theirs, did a fantastic lip sync performance.
